I have nothing to wear! And after doing the laundry yesterday, you’d think this wouldn’t be a problem. Go figure. For days where my brain doesn’t speak fashion, I simply focus on comfort, pick a fun shoe, wear lipstick and play with my hair. A half tucked tank + unevenly rolled sleeves + poufy hair = a hot mess. If I learned anything from growing up in Texas, it’s go BIG or go home. I don’t do anything half-assed.
I often get bored with the same old and dream up simple things to spice up my clothes, for instance, a tucked collar in outfit No. 05 or knotting a tunic tank dress. For this outfit, I created a cardigan look with my blouse by pulling the sides of the shirt behind me and buttoning the last button. I call this the mullet blouse. Business in the front, party in the back. Looks like a shrug, but it’s not. You’re probably all scratching your heads in confusion now. Study the photos very closely. There will be a quiz tomorrow.
Breaking News: The last time my hair saw the pouf, was in middle school, when it was super cool to have sky-high bangs held on by whole cans of hairspray and a spiral perm. Curly hair and humidity do not play nice together. I never got the memo.
Breaking News, Too: It’s also dawned on me that I was the middle schooler who single-handedly caused the hole in our ozone and I’m terribly sorry for this. It was selfish.

Oh my goodness, I love those shoes. I LOVE those shoes!!!
The outfit looks adorable, but those shoes bring such a fun twist to it…LOVE IT! Are the shoes a recent buy? Though I also love thrifting I really think any outfit can look up-to-date with a stylish pair of shoes and fun, current accessories.
Thanks, April. I’m realizing more and more through this blog, how much I rely on accessories to make outfits feel special, which is great because it can be a cheap fix, if I want to add to my collection. These yellow beauties are from a couple years ago and I decided to dig them out again (prompted by the 30/30 Remix and my recent affinity for all things 70s-ish). The stacked 4 inch heels are actually quite comfortable, despite the height. YAY!
You’re so sweet! Thank you so much for the raving comment on my blog. As a newbie to all this, it means so much to me! I love your blog and personal style as well! So fierce! You are one mommy who hasn’t caved into the sweatpants! I’ll be keeping up with you too my dear! <3
I can honestly say, there’s not a sweatpant in my closet! Cross my heart.
Thank you for the very nice comment. “Fierce”. That’s first time anyone has ever described me as that. *blush* I’ll take it! (Big fan of Project Runway).
AMEN to “go big or go home”! I love how the yellow shoes make this look. They’re unexpected but totally perfect! Those are my favorite sorts of accessories!
(And to your question, I taught English to very cute Elementary school students. I can totally see how someone would go there and just never leave! It was one of the best jobs I’ve ever had!)
