White Pants – Marshall’s
Beaded Necklaces in Blues – various Target, vintage, and thrifted goods Turquoise Ring – TJ Maxx
Leather Braided Belt – J Crew Leather Flats – Marc Fischer
I think you’ve figured me out. There is no red in my outfit and this is not what I’m wearing on the Fourth of July. I did, however, wear this Friday. Not much to say, except that we are away for another long weekend. I’ll be back to posting on Wednesday. Independence Day is one of my all time favorites because it’s about hanging out with friends, drinking beers and eating all foods that remind me of summer. There might be a some pool action, too, if the weather cooperates.
Hope you’re all having a wonderful, fun and safe holiday! I’ll leave you with a little bit of cuteness:
Gasp! When did you find this shirt at Target? I have (twice) missed out on the J. Crew version! Loving your ensemble!
Hi Dani, I think I bought this shirt last year? It also came in red and is made of a very light weight, soft cotton (almost muslin like). It’s gotten softer with machine washes which is nice, but lately I’ve been hand washing to prolong it’s life. The J Crew (and Anthro) versions are better quality, but they’re outta my budget. If you don’t mind thrifted clothes, I’ve seen these checkered/gingham tops on various occasions.
I love how nautical this outfit looks! Very cute.
Yay for teal with navy! Looks great

I highly recommend a navy blazer in everyone’s closet. It is a staple. I can throw it over many outfits to make it ready for a meeting, without feeling corporate. It makes me feel instantly put together! Thank you for visiting my blog, I checked out yours and totally love you and your roomies’ style ideas. I can get two for the price of one!!
Hello Cutness! You look totally lovely! I want to steal your shirt!! I was going to start the 30 x 30 a few weeks ago but life got in the way. Must get mine going now! Thanks for the inspiration! OXO Nat
Thanks Natalie! I love this shirt for many reasons. It’s a really easy pattern to play with and can add a dash of somethin’ special to a basic outfit. It’s light for summer and great for layering when temperatures drop. As for the 30 for 30, many of us are doing it at our own pace. YES, life is very busy, especially when you have a little one. Happy recentish 1 year birthday to your little one. I look forward to seeing more outfit posts from you.
I’m loving this outfit. The blazer and the necklaces = <3
Love the blue & white, and really love the great stack of necklaces! Also, you’re making me wish I could wear all these great layers… but my house is just too. dang. hot.
Thanks, Anne! I love the Northwest for it’s mild summers. There are only a handful of unbearable hot days here, which are generally followed by cool evenings. When it gets too hot, less is definitely better. But on an overcast and cool day, such as this, I take full advantage of layers.
Great look- love the shirt and blazer together!

I really really love the shirt match the navy blazer, the color is so fresh and beautiful….
Have you ever think of to take some pictures outside the house:)
I would love to take my outfit photos to outside locations, but that requires time and planning. Totally not there yet! I work during the week (from home) and set up my camera on the tripod and remote usually when my son is napping or at the end of the day. Probably spend about 15 to 20 minutes. Plus, I don’t have a handy dandy photographer like you.
Working on it though… Thanks for the encouragement!
I LOVE this outfit! I need some white pants. Still on the look out! Navy blazer is now on my list of things to buy. Thank you.
Thank you! Do you usually have a list of specific items you look for when you go thrifting? I carry a mental list and will look for those items first and then if I have time or the desire, I go on the prowl and see what jumps out at me. That’s trouble, though. I’m the gal with a shopping cart FULL of stuff and need to edit down my purchases. Uh. Yeah. The sales clerks loooooove me because I create more work for them. (At least, I put them back on the return racks and not on the wrong racks). Right?
Looking as lovely as ever, I so enjoy your writing style and that last pic of the little man, he is too cute! Hope you had a great 4th
Thanks Stacy, it means a lot that you enjoy my writing! Believe it or not, it’s something I struggle with at times. There’s a lot of editing down. It’s tricky finding the right balance between photos and words. Do you generally create a post in one sitting or over a period of time? I’m often of the latter, unless it’s a good day and the words just flow.
your blue take on patriotic is fantastic! the gingham and necklaces are perfect together!
Thanks! It was somewhat unintentional, but turned out to be a suit-able All-American look.
Well, hello. I’m stoked to be able to check back and see your remix, now. (: Thanks for visiting me so frequently while I was away. You have inspired me to try and wear many, many necklaces at the same time, but I feel that the effect will not be nearly as good as yours.
Yer welcome! It’s nice that you scheduled your outfits ahead and had guest posters to keep us entertained. I’m looking forward to seeing how you style layered necklaces. I think the easiest route is to go with a monochromatic color scheme.
