According to my friend Wiki, “kimono” literally means a “thing to wear” in Japanese. A simple
word for a lovely garment. I thrifted this soft, chiffon one for $5 a few weeks ago and love it.
The print is beautiful and it’s actually a wrap blouse. I wore it belted during the day and then
cardigan style in the evening for a girl’s night out to celebrate my friend’s birthday.
We enjoyed delightful conversation over dessert crêpes and wine at a quaint and cozy spot
called Le Happy. The Nutella & Banana is a favorite. My mouth waters just thinking about it!
How about you? Do you go for sweet or savory crêpes and what’s your favorite filling?
Below is my day look. After seeing the photos, I’m wondering if the belted look is more
“appropriate” for a night out and vice versa. My original thought was to have a relaxed and
playful style for evening and a polished one for a work day. I wore the outfit with black
sandals, last seen here. How do you think I did?

The necklace is by far one the most interesting necklaces I own. It’s made of glazed ceramic
shapes linked together with metal chain. I liked the contrast of teal with the orange tones.

This is Little C hiding from my camera and with a muffled voice saying, “No pictures, Mama.
Away, please.” (At least, he was polite about it). I did manage to sneak in a good shot:

P.S. Thanks for putting up with this photo heavy post. I guess, I’m having blogging withdrawals!

I like the kimono both ways! It just goes to show that this is going to be a very versatile piece in your wardrobe. Your hair looks great like that too
OMG little C is so cute with his head down saying, “No pictures Mama.” The kimono looks great, Van. I really like your hair in your daytime pics, and that belt is pretty cool.

I love seeing day/night versions of outfits – remixing at its best! I like them both for a night out, but the black belt version seems to be a little dressier (?)
Ahhh,,,I have been looking for a kimono like that!!!!! I guess our thrifted store can’t catch the fashion trend yet,,lol..
Yours is perfect shape and color….<3
I am obsessing over your yellow shoes! And the fact the sand toys match them!
Here I am again! (Replying to your comment to me haha) – I’m here in Portland till Tuesday afternoon!
Van!! How have i not seen your blog before? oh my goodness your style is so gorgeous. I love that Kimono, i imagine it’s a really versatile piece!

Ask the Duplex
this whole look is well put together. i love the hair!
I think both are appropriate night looks depending on the venue. I personally like the way it looked open a little more than closed, but for what it’s worth I’m having a hard time deciding which is a better night look. As per typical Van styling, your accessories are rockin’.
Hi Van! I”m so happy that you commented on my blog so that I could read yours- your style is beautiful (and so are you)!!! I love following other thrifters. That kimono is amazing and I really like how you’ve styled it. So happy to be following you
