We survived the mid-90′s temperatures. No spontaneous human combustion occurred. A grand time
was had by all at the Coast and Little C was the happiest boy, having discovered the world’s largest
sandbox! Here’s the path from our friends’ house to the beach.
A view of the beach, at the end of the path. This photo captures how I felt upon my return from the
trip. Refreshed and relaxed. I’m getting a print of this photo to place in my office as a daily reminder
to MAKE. Time. to breathe when days are hard. This says it all.
This beach is fancy. I have my very own personal wind machine, complete with wind machine operator.
This alone is worth a short 2 hour drive from the city to the beach.
Upon reaching the end of the path and reveal of the beach, Little C says, “Woah”. He was super excited
to see the sand go on for miles and miles. Is there anything better than a child’s laughter?!
I think not.
There is no swimming in the Pacific Ocean, unless you want hypothermia. No bathing suits for this gal.
Little C, the Explorer.
Look out for the next post where I’ll show more photos from our adventure to the Coast and how I
wore the blue top with shorts when the weather was warmer. Hope you all had a chance to relax this
past weekend. It’s a holiday weekend up ahead–something to look forward to! How will you be
spending the last official weekend of summer?

So beautiful! We as women sometimes don’t take enough time to ourselves and to enjoy the little things. You look like you had a fantastic time!
This blue is definitely your color!
I couldn’t agree more, Heather! I have the worst memory and love photography as a tool to help capture the details. The Hubs thinks I should put down my camera (sometimes) and just enjoy the moment (and I certainly do) but at the same time, I also get great personal satisfaction from capturing beautiful pictures. I see no loss from this!
Bee-yoo-tee-full. And no, there is nothing better than the sound of a child’s laughter.
Ah, the beach made me feel the same last week. Relaxed and refreshed… so great. What a beautiful photo to print for a reminder, too! (As are all the rest of these. Gorgeous.) And of course that favorite royal blue is PERFECT for the coast.
I think what made it so much more fun was to be able to share the experience with our son!
Lovely post, Van!! The message is great, the pics are outstanding, and you look as fabulous as ever! I can just picture C laughing and giggling playing on that beach…gotta love those toddlers (when do we start calling them preschoolers?? 3?)
Oh dear… maybe when they actually start going to preschool? Hah! That’s next fall for us.
Gorgeous photos. I need to get out to the coast again–I haven’t been there in ages.
Thanks, Sarah! I need to go back! It’s not that far away and can be done as a day trip.
wow, you seriously look stunning in cobalt blue!! and these beach pictures are gorgeous! so glad you got a little relaxation time in.
Thanks, Kileen! The funny thing about going to the beach is that there are tons of things to do–long walks on the beach, hiking, perusing small shops, making sand castles, etc.–yet unlike other “vacations”, where upon return, I need an extra day or two to recoup from traveling, I felt well rested and refreshed. So good.
Your photos are amazing!!!
Oh my goodness, Van, that first picture is incredible. You look like a model!
Aw, thanks Jess! It’s the wind-machine.

Children’s laughter is pure joy.
OMG, how cute is your kid?? Looks like such a fun family time at the beach. Beautiful pictures!
Kimmie! Hee-hee. Thank you. He is pretty darn cute (but I may be biased). Your son is a cutie, too! Yes, we had a wonderful time and I can’t wait to return.
What a beautiful post accompanied by beautiful pictures of that serene beach and your sweet family! Royal blue is a great color for late summer/early fall, loving it on you!
