There’s not much to say today. My hard-drive is still at the spa (it’s been a week)
and I’m in mourning. Hence the black. Though, the weather has been cool, overcast
and stormy, which makes me want to wrap myself head-to-toe in neutral tones. I feel
cozy, warm and safe. To break up the black and grays, a dose of orange lipstick and
neon green sunnies lent just the right amount of rebel. I was also inspired by
Heather’s look from earlier this week. I love her black tunic sweater look!
See those gray suede ankle boots? With my hard-drive on vacation, time away from
the computer makes a girl go crazy with all kinds of ideas. These were tall boots
from Target that I no longer liked and a few days ago I looked at them and thought,
hmm, I’m going to do a recon. Snip, snip, some needle & thread and 40 minutes later
old became new again. I’ve had my eye on gray ankle boots forever, but just haven’t
seen any worth parting with my money. This. is. so. much. better.
Look out for a tutorial next week. Soon, very soon…

You’re so clever! Love your ankle boots and lipstick too. And hmmm, maybe I could use some time away from the computer (I say while typing on one…)
You are looking bad ass with that coat! I try not to curse on comments, but I couldn’t help it! Love the leggings and you are so creative! Can’t believe you cut the boots! The neon green sunnies are so fun! I am trying not to get in my black rut with the cooler weather, but sometimes it just feels right!
This outfit = love. And kudos to you for refashioning your boots into something awesome!
You have got to be the most stylish Mom ever! I love this you look fab with red lips!
Thanks for the very kind comment, Savannah! Orange and red lips are my current obsession.
Liking the printed, turned-up cuffs and that necklace looks awesome.
you know, another fellow blogger chopped off her boots and added some laces to solve the broken zipper part…i have the hardest time finding boots the right height for my short legs…so i’m totally wanting to do this. i have a brand new pair of boots that just aren’t working out, but i’m also hesitant to chop them!! nice job on these!
[oomph.]
I can’t believe you chopped your boots. So brave. I would never have thought of that nor had the guts to do it. They look awesome!
Audrey, they are old boots that I was going to donate because I don’t wear them, but they are in great shape and very comfortable. I figured, what’s the worse that could happen? If my experiment failed, I’d end up tossing the darn thing. I’m so happy with the results!
Gotta love the outfit.
your boot-cutting turned out amazing! i heart all the textures going on here…it makes a dark outfit so fantastic!
dash dot dotty
Thanks Dotty, I love the boots now. And the way I cut them, creates a “v” in the front, is really flattering and leg lengthening. The textures are my favorite part of this outfit.
I stinkin’ LOVE your “mourning” outfit. LOL
Can never go wrong with black and grey!.

Yay! Glad you linked up!! (Very glad because some how I missed this post!) Love what you’ve done with the boots! (Dang, you’re so creative!) I’ll be looking at my shoes differently before I donate them from now on!
Thanks, April! I’ve been on a personal shopping fast. Haven’t stepped foot in a clothes store (new or thrift) for at least 6 weeks (except when I thrifted that vintage heart necklace for my birthday). Part of the reason for fasting is to get around to recon and diy projects, as I’ve got a pile of stuff to hem and make new again. No point in adding more things to my closet until I’ve whittle down the pile. I intend to teach myself to sew!
Wow! I’ve never “hemmed” boots before. I really like the new length. The whole outfit is great (especially rthe moto jacket).
Thanks, Jean! Definitely my first and done out of sheer boredom and a spark of inspiration.
That jacket and boots are so fabulous. You look great!
