On Saturday, my mother in-law came up to take me out for a belated birthday Dim Sum.
While walking around, we passed by a sad, cardboard sign lying on the sidewalk that said,
“Beer for Boobs” in all caps. Perhaps a remnant of a scandalous night and an indication
of the seedy part of town? Wished I had taken a photo of it. Drats!
Regardless, the topic was quite relevant (boobs, not beer), as I kick-start October by
wearing pink. I’m supporting Mel’s Blogging for Breast Cancer aWEARness by donning shades
of pink throughout the coming month. I posted style inspirations here and you can see who
else is participating, here. If you’re like me and don’t have much pink in your closet, a simple
thing to do is wear it in lip and/or nail color for the cause. Easy, right? I hope you’ll join us!
This pink blazer hasn’t been on the blog yet. I thrifted it for $5 a couple of months ago, but
it’s been too warm to wear it. I love that the inside of it is black, so when I roll the sleeves,
it adds a nice color contrast. I’m wearing it with my fave tunic dress, worn as a top. A couple
of half tucks on the sides creates a fun sculptural look that lends a nice element of texture.
The photos below show me with a black blazer, which I tried on first and decided I wanted a
spicier and playful look. What do you think of the switch from black to bright pink?

Last Seen Wearing: Coral Pink Tunic // Pink Vintage Blazer // Wedge Sandals

I think it looks quite sophisticated with the black blazer, but I really love the whole mix of pink-y shades you get with the necklaces, tunic, and pink blazer – mixing shades in the same family usually wouldn’t occur to me when I’m standing in front of my closet… but I should remember this option, because it looks so great!
Mixing items of the same color family really adds dimension to any look! Definitely try it out.
The pink and black contrast is a favorite of mine! When I was putting together my breast cancer outfits, most of them revolve around black and pink! What a great find on the pink blazer! The tunic was a great color to pair with the pink blazer too
Beautiful layers and colors!!! perfect in everyway, serious!!! ^^
I love yours! Love the black lining in the sleeve, such a nice detail! High five for thrifted pink blazers. You know it’s one of my top search terms that gets people to my blog?:)
Nice. Maybe I should wear it more often, huh?
I would naturally go with the black blazer, but the pink one is a lot more fun!

You look fantastic and I love those heels!
Fabulous blazer! This outfit looks great on you–either with the pink and the black blazer. Always looking chic, Van. And P.S. I <3 dim sum.
I could eat dim sum everyday for lunch, that and sushi!
You had me at Beer for Boobs! Way to rock that pink blazer! (yay for $5 finds!)
you are working this look!!! i love it. it’s right up my alley…simple, chic, sophisticated and interesting all at the same time.
Thank you! I can totally see you rocking this look.
These colors are so much fun together! Definitely prefer the coral blazer.
Interesting idea to do a half-tuck on the sides! It does add interest, and it makes your legs look longer.
Thanks, Carrie. I also do the half tucks on the sides for light-weight tops that are a little long. It not only shortens the length, it also defines my waist!
Love the pink blazer. Also, great work with the dress-as-top. I’ve never figured out how to do that, but it looks great on you!
I think the key is in length and light weight materials are best, especially in layering.
Love the pink on pink! Just stumbled upon your blog and been browsing around. New follower now.
Salam kenal! (That’s “Nice to meet you” in Indonesian language)

Thanks, LeeAnne for visiting my blog!
The pink blazer definitely gets your point across! (Breast Cancer Awareness) Your title was definitely interesting as well!
I love your pink blazer
I love the different shades of pink together. I wouldn’t have thought of it! It’s really great!
Thanks Aimee! I tend to mix neutral shades quite a bit, but rarely color. This was an experiment! I think it works because the shades of pink are similar, but not matchy-matchy and the textures are different.
I just linked over from the ‘thrifters anonymous’ and wanted to say that I LOVE your blazer. You absolutely made the right choice between the pink & the black.
Thanks for visiting, Loren!
i love the bright blazer! so fun!
Thanks Kelsey! It’ll be the right dose of color on future rainy days.
Oh my goodness! Can’t believe you got this blazer for 5$. Amazing. I love it!
You have a great sense of style. I can’t wait to see more from you!
