This weekend (starting on Friday) was a nightmare! The two boys in my life were sick as can be. I’ll
spare you the detail, but will let the title of my post and your imagine fill in the blanks. Hint: it has
nothing to do with one of my favorite childhood tales about little pigs. More like a swine flu times two.
I have somehow (knock-on-wood) dodged the bullet.
These outfit photos were taken last week on a rainy, but much healthier household. My outfit was
inspired by this Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent look, which I also featured on a Friday, I’m in Love post,
here. If you missed it, check it out for other rich, jewel tone inspirations. I thought my leaf print sheer
cardigan was the perfect homage to a very fall day. Little C is wearing a similar color scheme, by
coincidence. I’m not in the habit of matching our outfits. Promise.
Hope you had a better weekend than we did and here’s to a new week! Thank goodness it’s Monday.
Oh! Also of note, these are the first pants I’ve hemmed, as well as, taken in the pant legs on my own.
Quite an accomplishment for me because I don’t sew well–or at all. In the five years that I’ve had my
sewing machine, it’s been used only 3 times (couch pillow, hemmed curtains and these pants). I’ve
collected tutorials forever and these pants sat in my closet for over a year after I decided they were
too long for rolling the cuffs.
It’s blogs like Megan Nielsen and Cotton & Curls that have inspired me to “just do it” already! They are
both very approachable (and mom’s, too) and show that the best way to learn is to practice. It was a
little daunting to take on this project and I had to redo my first pant leg because the side seam was
crooked. Thankfully, it was an easy fix by undoing the hack job with a seam ripper and resewing a
straighter line. A slimmer pant and shorter length, makes this girl very happy!
Messy low chignon, with twists and lots of bobbies.
